The Saratoga Historical Foundation offers educational programs at the Museum and McWilliams House. These programs are targeted for 3rd and 4th grade California History/Social Studies Standards, but can be adapted for adults, scouts, and other groups upon request.   1. McWilliams House Visit with Museum Tour
    McWilliams HouseA hands-on experience at the Saratoga History Museum and the McWilliams House with life in early Saratoga. This tour includes an early school experience along with various "daily life" hands-on stations in the McWilliams House to explore family life in Saratoga in the late-1800's.
    Duration: approximately 2 hours, including a time to explore toys and games of this period.
    Cost: $2 per student with a minimum of $30.
  2. Classroom (or group) Visits by Docents (two options):
    • grinderSaratoga Trunk: Artifacts from the museum collection are brought to the classroom (or group meeting) along with stories about how they were used by the McWilliams Family in early Saratoga.
      Duration: approximately 45 minutes
      Cost: $20
    • Postcard Stories: This is a language arts/social studies lesson with old postcards from the museum collection. Using museum gloves when handling, participants analyze a vintage postcard for location, date and differences from modern cards. They then write an answer to the sender, or make written observations about the picture and message on the card.
      Duration: 45 minutes
      Cost: $20
